Pemex to develop offshore Zama field in Mexico
Pemex and partners have submitted their plans to develop the Zama field in Mexico, the Mexican state-owned energy company announced on Thursday.
Pemex is partnered on the project with a group led by US energy independent Talos Energy that includes Wintershall Dea and Harbor Energy.
The unit development plans await formal approval by the National Hydrocarbons Commission and are expected to pass in less than three months.
The development includes two offshore platforms and 46 wells linked to Pemex’s onshore Dos Bocas terminal.
The project is expected to produce up to 180,000 bopd.
The Zama field located in the Gulf of Mexico was discovered in 2017 and is expected to hold around 850 million barrels of oil.
Neither drilling schedule nor cost of the project were disclosed.
Pemex joined the project as operator in March 2022.
